Dr. Cristina Martinez

Cristina Martinez was born and raised in Mexico City and moved to Minnesota after completing her medical degree, later settling in the Pacific Northwest with her family. Her background is in medicine and public health, with work focused on community health, cultural competency, and cross-sector collaboration across healthcare, education, and nonprofit settings. Cristina currently serves as an elected school board director and is involved in nonprofit and civic leadership focused on education, public health, governance, and community engagement. Cristina earned her M.D. from Universidad Anáhuac in Mexico City and her Master of Public Health from the University of Minnesota. She is bilingual in English and Spanish and has participated in leadership programs through Cornell University and Leadership Tomorrow Seattle. Cristina lives on Mercer Island with her family and enjoys hiking Washington trails with her dog, stopping to photograph mushrooms and nature along the way, spending time in the mountains during the winter to stay close to the snow, and slowly working toward her goal of exploring most of the mountain regions in Washington State.
