Margaret Castellanos
Margaret grew up on Mercer Island and graduated from University of Washington. She met her husband, Boris, in college at 19 years old and has been married for 27 years. Together, they have 4 kids: Sam, Gracie, Neiso and Joshua. Margaret has her Masters in Education and Psychology. Margaret worked with families and adolescents for many years in multiple school settings, clinics, client homes. She worked for the nonprofit, Head Start, where she did home visits, assessing parents’ ability to support their children and evaluating the safety and needs of the children. Margaret also worked through the CDMRC at Universiry of Washington, where she interviewed siblings of special needs kids and provided them with support and fun events to acknowledge the difficulties they’ve encountered having a sibling with special needs. She has volunteered at all her children’s schools and on PTA, where she chaired events such as teacher appreciation, luncheons and welcome back events. She has derived much joy and satisfaction volunteering for many other nonprofits, including National Charity League and Friendship Circle, an organization that supports special needs children and families. Margaret hopes to continue on this path of making a difference in the community and she is excited to be part of such a strong and dedicated organization, PYP Seattle!
